Kim
Carney is a fabulous illustrator, (check out her stamps!) and she
emailed me a link to this felt
bowl. I LOVE it! I am going to see if I can find out how to make
one. Should be fairly simple.
Have you
seen the new issue of Martha Kids Magazine? It was sent with my December
issue. Sometimes I feel the kids issues are hit and miss, but this one
is great. They have a pull-put section on penguins illustrated by Jotto,
and an article on how to make dogs out of socks that is too cute.

This morning
I have been intrigued with the idea of making my own incense. I don't
burn incense, but MAKING incense seems like fun. Every time I go into
Whole Foods, I wander over to the health/beauty section and check out
the selection of "natural incense". Not the sticks that are
scented like "China Rain" or whatever, but things like Sandalwood
Powder, Dragon's Blood resin, and Frankincense. I found this
info on how to make incense, and some recipes.
You can also buy kits.
Interesting.
I have
been thinking that I am going to buy the Martha
Cookie Decorating Kit this year. I also want the complete
set of gel colors, but that probably isn't practical. Last month
I bought some cookie cutters from H.
O. Foose. Great service and really nice people. My plan this year
is to decorate the tree with the cookies, it should be fun!

Podzone
has hand
embroidered state pillows. Here
is the Wyoming state pillow. Of course my dinky hometown, Rawlins, is
not on there. Typical. It would be in between "Rock Springs"
and "Ft. Laramie." It seems like a pretty cool site, too bad
you can't access most of it.
Last year
when I was home for a visit, my mom and I went in to a flea market and
I found some great vintage soaps. They had the cutest little boxes and
were shaped like the three little pigs, little chicks and sheep. They
were three dimensional. I wish now, that I would have bought some of
them. I was really excited when I recently came across some soaps that
reminded me of the vintage ones I saw. They are made by Gianna
Rose Atelier. SO CUTE. I love the Goldilocks
and the Three Bears, The
Dress Maker's Form, and the Apothecary
Jars.

The December
issue of Country
Living magazine has some felt pillows made by Cathy Pendelton. They
look a lot like this pillow.
She comes up with some great designs. I love the Snowman
Marionette. Seeing her patterns makes me want to buy a bunch of
wool
felt. I have a whole bunch of ideas for dream pillows and the wool
felt would be perfect. The holidays are going to be here so soon and
I feel so unprepared!!

Malibu
was GREAT! We stayed at a place called Casa
Malibu. Our room was right on the beach.

Above are
views from our little balcony:sunset and sunrise. With the sunrise we
saw tons of dolphins that were cruising by eating fish. They were so
close..it was awesome since I have never seen real dolphins in the wild
before. We ate dinner at Wolfgang
Puck's Granita. The food was SO good. Suzanne Summers was there,
although my back was to her so I didn't get a good look. And then later,
when I went to use the bathroom, there was a tall blonde already in
there, and I walked by her to get to the stall, but I didn't actually
look at her. When I got back to my seat, she was sitting behind
us in the next booth and J whispered to me "That's Mira
Sorvino." I was in the bathroom with Mira Sorvino and I didn't
even know it. She was with her boyfriend, Olivier
Martinez. CRAZY.
I was watching
The Designer
Guys last night and there was a project on there that I am TOTALLY
going to make. A
Concrete Bowl. They have some nifty projects...check out the Martini
Candles.

I was reading
NotMartha this morning, specifically, her post about the cloves
in the spiced cider. I recently ruined our only saucepan by "simmering"
a lovely concoction of cider, allspice, cloves, and cinnamon sticks
to a sticky black death. I think I found a new form of cement. We were
roasting coffee in our spiffy coffee
roaster and it makes a lot of noise and a lot of smoky burning smells.
Because of this, I did not notice my liquid holiday splendor dying a
horrible death. We need to buy a new skillet also, and are debating
whether or not to spring for a whole set, or buy the individual pieces.
J did a bit of research and found that consumer reports rated this
set and this
set a best buy. Decisions, decisions.....oh by the way, I think it's
somewhat LAME that they count the lids as a "piece" in their
sets.
J and I
are going to be gone the next few days. We are going to Malibu for his
Birthday!! I am so glad it stopped raining.

I am having
one of those boring weeks. I feel like I need to update, but nothing
is happening!!
I do, however,
LOVE the Fabric
envelopes from Keri Smith. I would really love to make those, but
I never mail anything anymore so I don't know what I would do with them.
I guess it would be a perfect excuse to mail a letter to someone.
This Thanksgiving,
I have decided that J and I are going to have a cocktail party. Just
he and I. No turkey, no stuffing...just alcohol and appetizers. The
thought of making a turkey and all of that food for just the two of
us is really daunting and something I am not at all into.

I know,
I know...I need a new banner. I just haven't felt like drawing anything
for it and I can't think of anything. My brain is tired.

I bought
some more cacti this weekend, and some fancy red rocks to put on top
of the pots.
