I want
these alphabet disks from Kate's
Paperie. I want a lot of things from Kate's Paperie.
I have
been thinking about busting out the sewing machine and perhaps sewing
up some clothes, just in case I have to join the real work force. Sweats,
Old Navy yoga pants and jeans are pretty much my wardrobe. I really
want to wear skirts with knee high boots, but so far I have not had
that opportunity, AND I am afraid I am too short to pull that look off.
Can short girls wear knee boots? First up is an A-line skirt with an
inverted pleat. Sort of like this
(on the left, check out the knee boots while you're looking) or actually
this
is exactly what I want. I think I read somewhere that Burda patterns
do not have seam allowances..am I making that up?

The newest
issue of Budget
Living has an article (page 55) about using a product called "Stiffy"
and fabric to make boxes. I LOVE this idea. I will have to look for
Stiffy next time I go to the craft store.
I have
to talk about MY favorite Target/Swell
item. Amazingly enough, I saw it in a Metropolitan Home magazine. It
is the Dutch
Sheet set (especially the fitted sheet). The only thing that would
make this PERFECT in my book would be if the navy color in the
sheets was black.

So, as
you all know, I am going to be moving soon, and that is always stressful.
Even though in this case it's a welcome move. Also adding to the stress
is that fact that it seems like I will be losing my job sometime soon,
which, a lot of you have already been through. It's sort of a bummer
since I work from home and was hoping to keep it when we moved. If I
have not been updating as much it's because I have decided not to deal
with anything and watch a lot of TV. Bad, yes....but I decided to go
with my feelings and right now they are telling me to sit on my butt.
Yesterday
we went to the bookstore and I got a round of my favorite english decorating
magazines as well as this book: Making
Handbags. I just HAD to have it. It has clutch purses, totes, drawstring
bags....very cool.
While I
was in the bookstore, I was reading an astrology book, you know "Aries
for 2003" or something, and one of them said that it may be a good
idea to make money this year by making and selling crafts at a fair.
I thought that was an interesting idea. Not sure what I would make though.
I have to think about that one.

It's officially
official: J and I are moving to the Pacific Northwest, specifically
Olympia, Washington within the next few months. He will be attending
Evergreen. I
am pretty darned excited to get the hell out of Southern California.
It's going to be fun but it hasn't really sunk in yet.
Sunset
magazine has the BEST recipe for Cream
of Garlic soup. It's soooo goooood.
Happy
Valentines Day!
I am so
excited...the UPS man should be delivering a package to me today. I
ordered a bunch of stuff from From
Nature With Love. I am planning on making a face oil, patterned
after the Aveda
Composition Oils. I have been doing research and have decided to
start with the following oils and go from there: Jojoba, Borage, Camelina,
Rosehip, Evening Primrose and Seabuckthorn Berry. I have some of these
oils already and have been applying them to see their effect. (so far
so good) I have not decided on the essential oils though. Either Jasmine,
which soothes and rehydrates the skin, or Rose, which aids in skin problems
and skin regeneration...or both? If you read the ingredients on the
Aveda ones there are like 12 essences. I hope I can get it to smell
as good, or at least close to the Aveda ones.

It's amazing
to me how the time is flying this month. It seems like there is nothing
going on, and already it's mid-month. I keep operating with the notion
that it's like the 5th or something. What have I been doing? Nothing!
It's Valentines Day tomorrow and I could really care less. I have never
been big on this Holiday...I have no issues around it or anything, it
just seems uninteresting. Kinda like Easter.
I saw an
add for a Holland Cruise ship type thing, and the song used in the commercial
was so cool. I had the snippet in my head for days when I clicked
over to Shallow Hal on HBO and low and behold, there was the song. I
ran to the computer and typed the lyrics in and found it. It took about
20 mins to get it into my MP3 player. Thank you technology. Oh, the
song if you are curious is "Edge of the Ocean" by Ivy.
Who are they? I have no clue, but I like the song.
After watching
Sense and Sensibility and Amelie for like, the millionth time, I have
become obsessed with using the European, or Continental pillows for
my bed. They are a perfect square. I am going to see if I can find a
cheapo form at like Mervyns or something to test it out before I blow
a wad on the down
kind. Since I have been sleeping on rectangles all my life, a switch
to a square may be to much to handle.
And finally,
for the overwhelming number of you who find my site by the "Does
Tim Mcgraw have hair?" search string, here
is a pic of the famed Oscar appearance that sparked this very important
topic. Do you see hair? I see hair. But is it real? I would venture
to guess that it's not.

I want
one of these
leather bound journals with the strap that wraps around. I think that
eventually I will choose this sort of item as my first project when
I decide to try leather craft (on my "Things to do in 2003"
list).
What else...not
a whole lot going on. The upstairs neighbors decided to have a party
at 3 a.m. on Saturday night /Sunday morning. I was very pissed off.
I have since made J call the landlord and complain. If they get two
more "warnings" then they are gone. He he he...
I am currently
obsessed with Sense and Sensibility. I saw the movie first on HBO a
couple of weeks ago, I can't believe I never watched it before. I then
read the book, and have since rented the DVD and listened to the audio
commentary by Emma Thompson and Ang Lee. The commentary was very helpful
since I need things explained to me. Yes it's true, my life IS indeed
this thrilling.

It's Monday,
which means Cirque
du Soleil's Fire Within is on tonight. I love Cirque du Soleil,
and seeing the behind the scenes is interesting. My only gripe is that
they are not showing any of the visual artists, like the set or makeup
or costume designers. Granted, the performers are very important, but
what about the people who create "look and feel"? That's my
favorite part!
Thanks
to Megan
for pointing me to the Crayola
chalkboard paints that come in many dazzling colors. Mind boggling.
